Dealing with those uninvited sales people

Posted Nov 2nd, 2005 by Rich

We quite regularily get the door to door sales people knock at our door. I have recently started trying this phrase on them: “How much time would you like to waste before I say no“. Problem is that no-one seems to take me seriously!

I also started trying this on some of the myriad of phone calls we get, they don’t get the hint either.

These days when I get a call from sales people I hand the phone over to my 20 month old daughter who’s delighted to have someone to babble to. Her record is an Indian moblie phone company rep who devoted 4:50 to my daughter’s cute and unintelligible gibberish.

I have been interrupted by sales calls a few times whilst eating. I just say politely “no thank you, goodbye” and hang up on them (without waiting for any sales pitch). I have no guilt doing so, as they have just disturbed my meal.

Oddly enough, they don’t seem to call again….
